Joe was born and raised in Austin, MN, the youngest of seven children raised by a loving, progressive-minded mother and a respected union meatpacker. That was back when a factory job would afford a worker a modest house and enough food for a family.

After high school Joe joined the US Army, proudly serving as a technical instructor at the joint Army\Air Force\Marine Corps Still Photographic School.  After many years working in the fields of training and human resource management, Joe added an associate degree in computer networking and spent the next fifteen years resolving technical issues alongside factory workers and company presidents, eventually managing a large team of technicians spread across the country in support of thousands.

Joe has lived in Owatonna with his wife, Myrna, for the last fifteen years.  With the kids through college and out on their own he has the time to commit to serving the great people of this district and of the great state of Minnesota.

Committed to social justice, Joe has set his standards high, and will not stop fighting until all Minnesotans receive a fair and fighting chance to not only survive, but to thrive.
